Cows-n-Corn
On Tuesday October 21, I took all three of the kids to Cows-n-Corn, a nearby dairy farm. I've been wanting to visit this farm for years and have never had an opportunity. I decided that I would go without a stroller this time. Yes, I did lose my mind briefly. That won't happen again. They had a great time but they all loved going in different directions. When we first got there, we took a hayride around the farm and learned all about the daily activities at a dairy farm. It was very interesting. Did you know that a dairy cow drinks enough water in a day to fill a bathtub? Anyway, after the hayride the kids got up close and personal with a cow. We first met the cow and then they could pet it. Lenny was the only one that dared. Brooke was actually afraid of it. I thought for sure she would love it and try to put it's ear up to her nose. Didn't happen.
Here they are listening to the woman talking to us about the cow they were getting ready to meet.

After meeting the cow, they played for a while at the playground, we had lunch and ice cream and then picked out the pumpkins. There was a corn maze but I opted not to do that for fear that I would certainly lose a kid in there without a stroller to contain the two little ones.
Here they are picking out pumpkins.

The next day was Lenny's preschool field trip to Belvedere Plantation. I was really looking forward to this time with Lenny. Gloria watched Brooke and Nate for me at home. We had a great time and it was so much fun to see Lenny with all of us friends.

Here's Lenny with his pumpkin.
From the beginning of preschool there has been one girl that Lenny talks about a lot. One day shortly after he started preschool he was playing when I walked in the room. Lenny said, "Mommy, Elizabeth is a pretty girl." I said, "She is." and he said, "Yes." He tells me that he sits with her for snack time too. Lenny was right about Elizabeth--she is just adorable. I was talking to her mom one day and told her what Lenny said. She said that Elizabeth talks about Lenny too. Elizabeth also has an Uncle Lenny which is neat. While we were at the pumpkin patch, Elizabeth's mom said that she wanted to get a picture of them together. I'm so glad we got this picture. They look so darn cute together.

Here is Lenny, Elizabeth and one of their teachers, Mrs. Rachael.

This is the Marvelous Monkey class. Lenny is sitting on Mrs. Rachael's lap at the left side of the picture.

Lenny with his other teacher, Mrs. Lara. He really likes both of his teachers a lot. He gets so excited when he sees them during carline when I'm waiting to drop him off in the morning.

Halloween
This year, the kids were the three little pigs, Dominic was the big bad wolf, and I was the mommy pig. Lenny was the pig that used the bricks, Nathan used the twigs, and Brooke was the one with the straw.
I decided to make our costumes this year. Well, I just made the hoods, tails, and hands for the kids and me. Dominic's was a lot of fun. I made his hood, hands, and tail for him too.
Lenny loved it! He was so excited to be one of the three little pigs. I didn't think we would ever get out the door with all of our things on. We all lost our tail a few times thanks to Nathan pulling them off. I gave them all pink cheeks and Brooke ended up with the paint all over her face and hands. Thank goodness that Dominic and I worked together as a team or we wouldn't have gotten out the door. After I got my hood on, I was trying to get Nathan ready and I heard Lenny say, "Hey pig!". He was talking to me. My son called me a pig. It was very funny though. Then as we were out trick or treating, Lenny told me not to make the big bad wolf mad or he might eat one of the little pigs. He was having fun calling Dominic the big bad wolf.

Brooke was afraid of Dominic and his wolf costume. She would run from him and hug me real tight. It was very cute. I told Dominic that of course she was afraid, she was the little pig that used the straw for her house.
I gave them each a glow bracelet to wear around and I think that was a huge hit with them. A few times as Lenny was leaving a house he would look for his bracelet and then tell the people that he was making sure he still had his glow stick. It was cute. At one point Brooke realized that she had lost hers so she immediately went to Nathan and pulled his off to take it. We got that on camera too! Poor Nate. I got it back for him. Lenny was really excited about trick or treating this year. Brooke and Nate really got the hang of it quickly too. They would walk up and put their buckets out quickly.
Every year, Lenny gets home and has to line up all of his treats to look at them.

Wedding
Yesterday we went to a wedding for two of my friends--Ben and Melissa. It was a beautiful wedding at the chapel at Georgetown University and the reception was at the bumper car pavilion at Glen Echo Park. It was a wonderful reception and the weather was just perfect for an outdoor reception in November.
I had such a wonderful time seeing all of my other friends that I haven't seen in probably two years. They were all friends that I used to work with before Brooke and Nathan came along. It was so nice and it felt like I had never left work. I miss you guys so much and it was wonderful to see you!
Dominic and I at the beginning of the reception.

Me with a bunch of the girls that I worked with and miss!

I have to include what the couple included on the response card for the wedding. It was the cutest thing and it was SO much like the couple that I just laughed when I got the wedding invitation. Anyone reading this who know Ben and Melissa got a kick out of it too I'm sure.
This was on the response card for you to make your selection and send back. I had to write it down before I sent it back.
Gladly attend

Think you are just trying to get a gift out of me
They are such a cute couple and complement each other so well. I'm so happy for them! Can you believe that I did not get a single picture of the bride and groom!

OMG -- those costumes are a riot! Looks like you all had a blast. It was great to see you and Dominic on Saturday. And, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't get any pics of the bride and groom either. I guess I was too busy socializing!
You are simply amazing woman! Stay at home mom, you look GREAT, you make costumes, go to pumpkin patches without strollers....you are simply my hero :-) It was wonderful to see you at the wedding - I hope it's not 2 more years before we meet again. Love all the pics of the kids and the big bad wolf....that is too funny!
And yes, I took got a big kick out of Missy's RSVP card for the wedding. SO her and Ben. I didn't get a pic of them either so don't feel bad!
WOW,WOW,WOW, the halloween costumes were great. Such a cute idea for your family! You couldn't have bought any cuter ones. I am simply amazed at you. I can just hear Lenny saying those things (what a great trick or treat night.) Did you get to wear the costumes to any other party?
I really am curious what the newlyweds look like; are you sure they exist (since noone took their pic) or did you just make them up to have a reason to celebrate , ha,ha.
And where is the picture of YOU in your costume???? You did a great job on the costumes! (uh-um who's NOT creative????? I'm never believing a thing you say from now on!) You were brave to go to the farm without a stroller...hey...you still brought 3 kids home right? Well, then...SUCCESS! Way to go! You're right, the little girl that Lenny talks about is cute. We miss you guys. We need to get together again soon. (Save Jan 24th for Mikie's bday party ;-)
I LOVE the costumes! What a great idea. The kids looked great, loved the pic of Lenny lining up his candy. I can totally see Zach doing that in a few years.
Yea Kelli where are you? I love this blog! I am sorry I missed seeing you all in person.
One kiss to all,
