My Sweet Little Boy

I found out today that Nathan has the flu. Poor little sweetie started a fever on Saturday morning so I took him to the doctor today. All three of the kids got their flu shot so I was very surprised that Nathan has the flu.

Saturday morning he was a little sluggish but he still is up and running around with his brother and sister like nothing is wrong. Lenny has always been the same way when he is sick. They don't give me any indications that they are sick. The fever is the only way I could really tell this time.

I've had to cancel all of our playgroup plans for this week because I don't want to take the chance of him sharing it with someone else. Let's just hope too that he doesn't share it with Lenny or Brooke.


Lenny was reading a book to Brooke the other day. Nathan decided that he needed to listen along with them so he climbed up on the couch to sit near them.


Brooke and Nathan think that they always need to stand on their toy box and wave to our neighbors, Bob and Joanne, when they take their dogs outside. It is so funny. They do it several times a day and even knock on the window to get their attention.


As I've mentioned before, I'm often called in to where Lenny is to "check out the damage" from a crash or to see what happened to one of the engines. This time he came running in to me and said, "Henry's driver applied the breaks just in time." This is what I saw. He came very close to running into a cow. I'm sure a few minutes later he did and all of his freight cars and what was in them went all over the tracks. It happens all the time in our house.


My Little Seagull

From the time that Brooke found her voice and started "talking" she has made the loudest squealing sounds. She sounds exactly like a seagull when she does it. This is very true. I say it all the time and anyone who has heard her would agree. Even if you talk to me on the phone and hear her in the background, she sounds like a seagull. It's kind of nice sometimes. If the kids are driving me crazy and I need a little get away time. All I have to do is close my eyes for a few seconds and I feel like I'm at the beach. Then all is well again. She mostly makes the sound when she wants something or she is trying to get your attention.

I always try to video tape her doing it but can never get it on camera. The other night I tried again and got a little of it. Of course, she saw the camera and was acting like a good girl and was being quiet. But when she does make the sound, it's always very loud.

Easter and the Dentist

What timing that Lenny would have his first dentist appointment three days before Easter and all the Easter candy. I took him to the dental office where my mom works on Thursday so she was the one that cleaned his teeth. He was such a good boy! I was so very proud of him. The babies were actually good too. Lenny was impressing everyone in the waiting room by spelling "dentist" for them. It was so cute. Anytime someone new came into the room, someone that was already there would tell them that Lenny spelled "dentist". So then he had to spell it again. And of course, he was spelling his name too.

Good news. He got a good report from the Dentist. Lenny's teeth look great, just as I expected.

Easter

We had a wonderful Easter. The kids had fun going through everything in their baskets and eating the peeps.

Brooke and Nathan gave each other a kiss before we left for church. Brooke would not put down her toothbrush, she even took it to church with her.

We have a family picture but it turned out just awful. None of the kids were cooperating at this point. And that was the only picture that we got with Dominic in it.

Brooke's First Haircut

Today it was Brooke's turn to get her first haircut. Well, more like a trim since we want hers to grow. Her bangs were getting a little long and the rest just needed shaped. She was a very good girl. I took her by myself and it was so nice to have a girl's time together.





She looks very cute with her new haircut and we can still put it in piggy tails or a pony tail.

From the Mouth of a Four Year Old

Today we were coming home from the playground and it was getting very close to lunch so I decided to pick something up. I started to go to our usual, Chick-Fil-A, but decided that McDonald's is much closer to our house. I asked Lenny if he would like McDonald's today. He said, "No, we can't get McDonald's. Daddy said it isn't good food." I tried to talk him into it and he kept saying that Daddy said it wasn't good. Now, I know that Dominic has eaten at McDonald's plenty of times and so has Lenny. So, I said, "Lenny, McDonald's has cool toys in the happy meal.". Then Lenny laughed and said, "Daddy was just joking. We can go to McDonald's". I knew that would get him to change his mind.

I admit that Chili is a very messy choice for 15 month olds but they seem to like it. Brooke is definitely the messiest one of them. She manages to get food everywhere. Don't even think about mentioning the words "head" "ears" or "peek-a-boo" while she's eating, even if it is just in conversation.

Nathan was being very cheesy. You can tell that he's not quite as messy. He's a very good eater and takes one little bite at a time. He also uses his fork and spoon more than Brooke, but there are times when he likes to put them on his head (check earlier post).

From the Mouth of a Four Year Old

Here's a few for ya.

A few weeks ago when Dominic was hanging drywall in Brooke's room, the kids and I were downstairs in the family room playing. Lenny was pushing around a car when Dominic drilled into the drywall and we could hear it very loud in the family room. Right then Lenny said, "Oh, I think I blew a piston." He then looked at his car and said, "No, I didn't" and went back to playing.

Last week at a birthday party, Lenny was so excited about everything they were doing. Someone said, "Lenny, I love how enthusiastic you are." To that Lenny replied, "Like Neville". Neville is an engine from the Thomas shows. Lenny collects all of the Thomas take along engines, wooden engines and the battery operated engines. They each come with a collectors card (except the battery ones). Anyway, Lenny loves the cards and we have to read them to him all the time. He's been like that since he was two. Neville's card says that he is enthusiastic.

Tonight on American Idol someone sang the song Here comes the Sun and while she was singing it Lenny said, "When the sun comes, I will play in my pool."

Lunch with the Easter Bunny

I finally was able to get the software for my camera loaded and working. I can post pictures again. Yeah!

On Tuesday we had lunch with the Easter Bunny. Lenny's friend Jacob was also there and we ran into our neighbors that live right behind us. Lenny was able to play with two friends. It was a lot of fun. Brooke and Nathan even got their faces painted.



They weren't so sure about the easter bunny. They just kept staring at him up on the stage.

The next day we went on an Easter egg hunt. Here is Lenny and his friend Mikie looking at all of their eggs to see what's inside.

Brooke and Nathan decided that it was way too cold for them to hunt for eggs. They just stayed in the stroller and watched Lenny and the other kids.

On Thursday, Lenny's friend David had a birthday party. I forgot to take my camera so I don't have any pictures. It was a Diego party which Lenny just loved. They also had a moon bounce. The bigger kids played for a while and then Brooke, Nathan, and I got in for a few minutes. Nathan loved it. He started jumping up and down in it. And of course, it threw him a few feet, which he loved. Brooke wasn't so sure about the whole thing.

This is a picture of Lenny from today. Dominic has been doing some drywall work in our house. We used to have a loft that overlooked the family room, now that loft is Brooke's room and needs to be closed off from the downstairs. Dominic hung the drywall a week or so ago and today he was working on the mud work. He still had the ladder out and Lenny thought he would climb the ladder. I was so scared when I saw that he was all the way at the top of the ladder. He is about two stories up. If you look at the picture on the very bottom, you can see the ceiling for the family room. I couldn't believe that Dominic let him climb up that far. Of course, Dominic was right there the entire time.

I love this picture of Brooke. I mentioned in an earlier post some of the crazy habits that Brooke and Lenny have. Brooke has always pushed a blanket up to her binky. When she was a baby and before her surgery, she couldn't keep a binky in her mouth because she couldn't get a suction. She always used the back of her hand to hold it in. I think that is why she still has to push something up to her binky. Anyway, she has a cow that she sleeps with and every morning when I go in to get her, she is sitting there with the cow's ear pushed up to her binky. It is the sweetest thing ever. I haven't been able to get a picture of it but this one is as close to it that I have gotten. She was already finished pushing the cow ear in her binky and was just hugging the cow at this point.

I have some "from the mouth of" stories about Lenny but I will save those for tomorrow since this post is already long enough.

I'm Still Around

I haven't completely forgotten about my blog. :-) Our computer was down for a week. Lenny and I were about to lose our minds without our computer. He kept telling me that he could still play his Easy Link without the computer. After the first few days I think he finally realized that he couldn't. Anyway, thank you to Dominic's brother Robbie for fixing it for us...again.

The weekend before last the kids and I went to my mom's house for a visit. My sister and her kids were also there for the weekend. I'm sure my mom was so excited for us to be there with all six of her grandkids--four of them are four years old and younger. It gets pretty loud. What am I saying, it was always loud before the kids even came around. Aleah and Kiana are very good helpers with the little kids and I really don't have to do much at all with them around. I wish they could come and stay with me for a while.

Aleah and Kiana got me to do something that I've never done before--play Guitar Hero. I'm hooked! I had so much fun. They each have their own guitar so we were able to play against each other. Kiana just turned 10 and Aleah will be 12 this month and they both are so good at the game! I had a blast with them and they had to stay up Saturday night until 10 playing it with me because I didn't want to stop playing. Kristi and I also played against each other which was a lot of fun. Mom was laughing and said that it reminded her of when we were kids and we would play Atari and Nintendo. Before Kristi and I played I asked her if she was good at it. She said, "Yea, I can rock it." And she did. It was hilarious. Mom even gave it a try and she did good too.

This past weekend went by very fast because we had a lot going on. I'm finally able to get back on the computer and back to my blog. It feels so good to be back!

We still need to load the software for my camera so I won't have any pictures to post today.

From the Mouth of a Four Year Old

Lenny and I were walking down the stairs the other day. I was carrying both Brooke and Nathan. Lenny stopped in the middle of the stairs and I asked him to keep walking because the babies were heavy. He said, "I stopped because I thought Daisy was approaching me." Daisy did come to the bottom of the stairs and looked up. Lenny cracks me up with his choice of words. I know he learned that one from his Thomas shows.
