Double Teething Troubles

If someone would mention "Double Teething Troubles" to Lenny, he would say that is the name of a Thomas story. He would then tell us that the diesel wasn't used to the tracks and had problems so the twin engines had to help him. Well, if you say "double teething troubles" to me or Dominic, we would immediately think of Brooke and Nathan.

We haven't had a good night sleep since both of them started getting their teeth. I keep counting down until they each have all of them. Let's see. Nathan has four on the top and two on the bottom--fourteen teeth to go for him. Brooke has three teeth on top and two on the bottom--fifteen teeth to go for her. That's still A LOT of teeth and sleepless nights.

For the last week, Brooke has been especially fussy. She usually isn't this bad. She has been waking up at the same time (a little after 9) each night and then she is almost impossible to get back to sleep. Once she goes back to sleep, she does pretty good. I knew she was getting a tooth but also thought there must be something else. I wondered if she could be getting another tooth in her gum line where she had her surgery. We aren't sure exactly where or how her top teeth will come in because of the cleft lip and palate. As I was playing with her today and she was leaning way back with her mouth open, I noticed a tooth in a very odd place. It was exactly as I was worried it would be, right where she had her surgery. No wonder she has been so fussy! That must really hurt. I'm going to need to make an appointment with her craniofacial team to find out what we do about it. Poor little girl.

Besides the sleepless nights, we've had a great weekend. The babies seem to be adjusting fine to the time change. We'll see how that goes tonight and tomorrow morning.

Lenny and I found a great way to use up the Hershey's chocolate bars from Halloween. We made peanut butter cookie smores today. Yummy!

Lenny had fun making the criss cross pattern on the cookies.

Now the only problem is that we have a bunch of cookies to eat along with the candy from Halloween. I guess I won't start my diet this week.

Lenny was playing outside on Saturday as Dominic cleaned the yard. He was writing with sidewalk chalk and had a great time.

Later that evening, I went out to the garage and saw that Dominic was also having fun with the sidewalk chalk--putting Lenny's name in graffiti on the floor of the garage.

From the Mouth of a Three Year Old

This story is about 6 or 7 months old but I still love it. One day Lenny and I were sitting on the couch and he didn't have his socks on. I looked at his cute little feet and said, "Oh Lenny. Your sweet little feet. I just love them." To that Lenny replied, "But you don't love the smell of them." He said it with such a serious tone and facial expression. I laughed so hard over that one.

Hopefully you won't have sleepless nights through the rest of the teeth! I was so lucky that the girls never suffered through that, but Brennan sure did. Poor lil babies :-( I love keeping up through your blog - you amaze me at all you do with 3 kids at home all day. You're my hero :-)

I love the sidewalk chalk idea. What a great way to keep them occupied while doing yard work. I think I'll do that this weekend.
