I am so proud of Brooke and Nate, they did great sleeping in their big kid beds. We talked it up all day and the kids even helped get Nate’s bed all ready. Then it was time to go to bed and we realized that we forgot to put the bedrails on so that they wouldn’t fall out. So we decided that we would just start it the next day. Brooke and Nate weren’t having that. They both pointed to their beds and wanted to sleep there that night. So we got the bedrails, put them on, and put the kids to bed. Nate woke up at about 9:30 briefly and then went right back to sleep. After that we didn’t hear a word out of them until morning.

At about 6:30 the next morning Dominic said that he thought he heard Nathan trying to open the door. I went to his room and when I opened the door, he was standing there with his brown boots on. It was hilarious! The boots are still too big and the laces are all open wide. He loves to wear them and must have pulled them out of his shoe rack behind his door. He looked so cute standing there in his pajamas with his boots. Of course after that he went to Brooke’s room and wanted to make sure she was awake. She was just sitting up in her bed with her cow ear up to her nose.
We kept the cribs in their rooms for a little while just to see how they do. So far tonight, they haven’t said a word and this is the third night. Yeah! They are so VERY good about bed time and naps that I wasn’t really too worried about the transition for them.
Zoo
Sunday we packed the kids up and headed to the National Zoo. We had a lot of fun but forgot about how much walking is involved in going to the zoo. We didn’t even get to see everything. The kids really loved it and we all had a great time. We brought our own lunch from home which was fun too.
Dominic and Lenny were looking for the Pandas.

I loved how these gorillas were sitting. The lady from the zoo said that they are brothers and they usually don't sit with each other.
I didn't get any good pictures of the kids looking at me. Luckily Dominic took his video camera and got some great videos and pictures on that.
The small mammal house seemed to be the favorite. They all really loved the Meerkats. Nathan really got excited over them. Here they all are looking at the Meerkats.
When we saw the elephant nosed shrew, Dominic said, “Ewww”. Lenny quickly said, “Daddy, don’t say ‘ewww’. He’s cute!” I think that I agreed with Dominic’s opinion on that one.
Lenny also loved the armadillo. He said that he could watch him for a long time. Again, another one that I wasn’t too fond of.
Brooke and Nate really liked the kids farm. Nathan always had to stand up to get a better view. We didn’t let them out of the stroller because we knew that we would never get them back in but luckily they could stand up if they wanted to and see better.
Brooke kept holding her pretzels out to hand to the animals. We had to keep telling her that they couldn't have them. She just wanted to share. In this picture while Nathan is being so cute, Brooke is probably trying to take his pretzels to give them to the animals.
All in all it was a great day. We got out of there in time to listen to the Redskins game on the way home and see the entire second half from home. Dominic was happy about that.

Look at them in their big boy/girl beds...how cute! I can't believe it's time for that already...I'm sure you must feel the same. One of these days I will meet them in person!!! How was the zoo? My friend went a few months ago and wasn't very happy - said lots of the animals were missing. We've been holding off because of that. Looks like a fun day!
That is great they love the big kid beds! The pics were really cute. We are starting to think about the bed situation with the new one coming. I'm thinking while no one might be sleeping it might be time to upset the whole fruit basket at one time!!! Glad you all had a good weekend.
The twins are so cute in their big beds. Can just picture pjs and boots.
Loved seeing the kids in their big beds. I'm so not ready for Zach to be in a big boy bed, maybe after Christmas!
I can't believe they are in big kid beds, oh my goodness!!
The zoo was a great idea for last weekend, it was awesome outside.
Did you get a Combi stroller? How do you like it? Isn't it nice to have them both up front/side by side. No more kicks in the back. I'm so glad the transition went well for you. I had 2 weeks of crying (Mikie & ME) before it all got worked out. Of course, we made him change rooms as well as beds so it was just all rough! Glad you liked the zoo. You should head to the Richmond metro one sometime soon. You could let the twins feed a LOT of animals there.
I love the zoo! It's been a long time since we've taken Christian. We should definitely put that on our list of things to do this fall.
I can't believe the twins are out their cribs already! Wow! Where has the time gone. It's been way too long since we've seen you.
I can't wait to see this. Boots! Leave it to Nat. That is really funny. Brooke is the sweetie and Lenny takes the cake.
