Look how bundled up Brooke and Nathan are.

Yes, we are a little camera crazy in our house. We go out with my camera and the video camera. We don't want to miss anything. Dominic was hoping that he would see the President's helicopter land. No such luck this day.

Lenny and Dominic in front of the National Christmas Tree.
Me and the kids in front of the White House. Well sort of. Okay it's a good ways behind us but it is back there. Lenny was too worried about going back to watch the trains under the tree. Which by the way he loved and we could hardly tear him away from them.
While we were there Lenny and I went into Santa's workshop.

Lenny was able to talk to Santa and tell him that he wants lots of Thomas toys and Proteus (a new Thomas engine).

I just had to post this picture below because I forgot to earlier. This is one of Lenny's ornaments. He hung it on the tree and told me that it was chugging on the garland.

Twin Stories
The other day I noticed that Brooke lost the back to one of her earrings. I got another one and was putting it on. Nathan noticed and wanted me to put an earring in his ear. I told him that boys don't wear earrings. I said that Lenny doesn't and Daddy doesn't. After I said that Nathan ran to the other room, got his little Captain Feathersword doll and brought it to me. He showed me the earring in Captain Feathersword's ear. That boy amazes me! It was hilarious. I guess he proved me wrong.
Brooke or Nathan neither one talk a lot yet at all. I did have them evaluated in September. They were 22 months old. Brooke was talking on the level of a 12 month old and Nathan was on the level of a 15 month old. Yeah, they were starting to worry me. Within days of the evaluation, they both started talking a lot more. They are still behind where they should be but their pediatrician is not worried. Nathan says about 60 words and Brooke says about 40 and they will both try to repeat anything.
Anyway, Nathan has no problems communicating with me. They both know a few words in sign language. But Nathan has made up his own sign language. It's hilarious but also very good. He would be very good at charades. He acts out everything and I do mean everything. And when you figure out what he is trying to tell you, his acting makes complete sense.
Here's a Brooke story. I never ever wear socks in the house. I just don't like them or shoes. When we came back from the national Christmas tree, I hadn't taken my socks off yet and I was sitting at the table. Brooke came over and was touching my feet and acting like she was scared. Then I put her on the floor to change her diaper. My feet was next to her head when she looked over and saw the socks on my feet. She would not lay down. Dominic and I laughed about it.

I love the story about the earring - that is soooo funny! He sure is a smart little thing - even if he's not talking all the way yet :-) He understands and he knows what he wants to say - the rest will fall into place soon.
The Cmas tree is pretty - can you believe I've lived here my ENTIRE life and I've never been to see it? Yet you manage to take 3 kids to see it - you're my hero!
Hope you enjoy the holidays - I'm sure it will be crazy fun in your house!
I can NOT believe that was only his second time on the metro! We've only lived here for a year and have ridden that thing so many times! We even rode it once to go nowhere just so Mikie could say he had been on every 'color' of rail line. And the escalators...Wow! Kelli, you and I need to take the kids to short pump in Richmond sometime when it is warmer (and they'll be older) because they have a playland, a toy store with 3 train tables, a train, escaltors, and a glass elevator! Lenny would be in heaven! I absolutely love how he hung the train on the tree! He's so clever!
Nathan bringing you the doll was genius! He couldn't have said it any better with words.
The sock story cracked me up. She'll go to complete strangers but is scared of mommy wearing socks! Oh, Brooke, you are a silly girl!
Great post, Kelli!
oh, and short pump also has fountains to throw coins into. Let's plan to go in the spring!
I loved they way Lenny put the tree on the garland track, so clever. Glad Nathan enjoyed the escalators. I remember when Tracy was little and we were at a mall she kept telling my sister she wanted to ride on the alligator (escalator); they finally figured it out and kept riding the alligator till I returned.
Nathan proving you wrong with his doll is too funny. He's very smart. To make up his own sign language is awesome.
That's funny about Brooke and your socks. Proves that your children are very observant and smart.
You can never have too many pictures or videos. Besides when all three grow up and move away and you divide up the pictures between them you will be glad.
Keep up the good work.
Nathan is too smart for you mommy!! Haha, how cute! I love the pic of Lenny on the metro, Brendan has been on a few times, and he loves it.
I love that you take your kids out for adventures, like we do. Cold or no cold, let's go outside and see what's out there. :-) We went to the Nat'l Zoo this past weekend, and it was freezing, but so much fun!
I also like the pics with Santa and Mrs. Clause, I have never met her. :-o
