This past week the kids and I made some bird feeders for our feathered friends. I did this last year with Lenny and decided to do it again. Lenny went out in our backyard to collect some pine cones for us. The kids then covered them with peanut butter and rolled them in bird food. They had a lot of fun doing it.

We hung the bird feeders outside and waited for our friends. It didn't take too long for them to find it. I was so excited to see several types of birds out there too. We had some chicadees, a tufted titmouse, some junkos, and a male and female cardinal. It was so much fun watching them.
One of our other friends came to visit and brought lots of his friends. All winter long, we've had one squirrel that walks on top of our fence and comes right over to our family room window. He gets close enough to put his feet on the window to look in. I always tell Lenny when his friend is there to visit. It really seems like he is there to see the kids. The squirrel peaks in the window, the kids come running, and the squirrel stays there and stares at them. It is really very cute.
So now that squirrel friend has brought his entire family to our backyard. I saw four of them out there at one time. They keep stealing our bird feeders. It's not very nice of them but at least we have fun watching them. It drives poor Daisy crazy though. She still thinks that she is going to catch a squirrel one day. She might now that we have so many of them back there.
I've talked many times in my blog about Brooke and her cow and how she has to hold the cow ear up to her nose. Well I think that Nathan thought that he should come up with something silly to do too. He's been doing this for a long time, Dominic and I just laugh every time he does it. He takes the end of his blanket and pokes it in his eye. Below is a picture of him doing it but it's not a great one. Usually he holds it to where there is about six inches of the blanket sticking out before it touches his eye. It's so funny.
I posted a picture of Brooke sleeping last time and now here's Nathan. All of the kids had a play date today at 1. Problem is, Brooke and Nathan are usually taking a nap at that time. I wanted them to go so we skipped the naps for today. A little after we got home, I found Nathan on the couch asleep. He didn't get to stay there for too long though because shortly after I found him, Brooke found him. Enough said. Poor guy!
Brooke loves to help me fold laundry. She is really good at it too. She can also fold her baby blankets real good too. My mom and even my grandma has always told me that I could fold a blanket perfectly from the time I was two years old and also make my bed. I guess Brooke is following in my footsteps.

Okay, he didn't really say much but it was his actions. Today while we were at the play date, the bigger kids played in the playroom in the basement while the smaller kids played upstairs with the mommies. When it was time to leave, I went downstairs to get Lenny. He came upstairs and when he saw Brooke and Nathan he got real excited. He walked over to them and said, "Nathan" and gave him the biggest hug. He then did the same thing to Brooke. It was very cute. He acted like he hadn't seen them for a week. I was also very proud of Lenny because when I told him it was time to leave, he finished playing and came with me. That does not usually happen. I was very excited.

Nathan is usually a pretty laid back kind of kid. That is until he doesn't get his way. Then he will throw a fit for 20-30 minutes. I'm not exaggerating one bit. That kid does not forget about it. It's just awful too. Well, I've started ignoring it completely. He throws himself on the floor in front of me, falls back on the floor, anything he can do to get attention. Starting this last week, he throws his fit for about five minutes and then he says "Mom". When I look at him, he gives me a huge cute smile. I say, "Are you done now?" Then he says "Yes". And that's the end of it. How ridiculous is that?

Brooke is really a big helper. Justin helps with the dishwasher and wash/dry the laundry - thanks for the idea of folding! I have a whole basket ready for him in the morning...HAHA! I can't believe that you enrolled Lenny for K next year. That doesn't seem possible! Enjoy the weekend!
I saw the squirrel the other day and he really comes to see the kids! He looks right in the window! It is so cute and the twins go look right at him like they are talking. Its so funny, they have a pet!
I love the bird feeder idea. We have a pair of birds currently living in our birdhouse -- we'll have to make them some feeders for Easter!
I love the picture of Nathan asleep on the couch -- such a sweet boy!
So nice of the kids to feed the birds & squirrels. Hope you can get a picture of them and their furry friends at the window sometime.
I love tupperware. My consultant here says I need to be one...she thinks I would be good at it, just not ready to take that plunge yet. If there is anything you would like to borrow of mine for your demonstrations just ask and I can also give you some ideas for usage of tupperware. Good luck.
You're so lucky to have wildlife in your backyard. We get the occasional bird or bug on the window, but no squirrels. I miss WA where we would watch deer meander through the grass or the farm where we often have cows chewing on the grass down our driveway. I think we may have even had buffalo on our property one day that got out of a neighbors fence. Anyway....it's nice to let the big kids play separately now, isn't it. When that happened at Bridgette's I really felt like they were growing up so fast!
